![]() In 1983, Arthur Miller went to Peking's Art Theater to personally direct its production, one of the most significant Chinese theater events since the Cultural Revolution. It continues to be played in countless countries around the world. It won the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and makes a great read (more than 11 million copies sold worldwide). Written in the 40s, "Death of a Salesman" is a superb literary achievement with a rare universality. I'm moved to express my heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to Beth Lambert, Limelight's Executive Director, and to Limelight co-founder Jean Rahner, director of this production, and to the entire cast and crew, for tackling this challenging, multi-layered, nuanced script and bringing it off so brilliantly. In a singular demonstration of strength, determination and dedication to the arts, the Limelight Theatre has brought Arthur Miller's classic masterpiece, "Death of a Salesman" - acclaimed as the best American drama of the 20th Century - to our Ancient City for a run through June 20.
